Room to Take ResponsibilityBecause I am studying event management and horticulture, my supervisors asked me for ideas to improve the weekly banquet night. I had the opportunity to arrange floral centerpieces for the event. I was also encouraged to take responsibility in other areas of my job as well.

AchievementsI learned how to facilitate and efficiently run a high ropes course that included a zip line, climbing wall, and two-person giant swing. My leadership abilities stretched as I organized and encouraged a worship band for worship times. I also had to follow and conform to the Pine Cove staff expectation outlined by my superiors and The Way (The Pine Cove Staff Manual). I learned hospitality skills as I served families their meals and cleaned cabins every weekend in preparation for the next week's families. I gained valuable social skills by interacting with families and other staffers. I saw healthy ways to address conflict in the work environment. I had never felt more exhausted and emotionally spent, but I have never seen my character change in such a positive way in a short amount of time like this summer.
